About ADLT NC

The Arts District Little Tokyo Neighborhood Council is a City-chartered body that advises the City of Los Angeles and its elected officials on matters affecting our neighborhoods.  Our 15-member board reflects the full diversity of the Arts District and Little Tokyo, with equal representation from both neighborhoods and seats for residents, businesses, nonprofits, property owners, and an at-large member. This structure ensures balanced leadership and broad stakeholder participation in guiding the Council’s work.

We advise City leaders, support local initiatives, and work to protect, preserve, and enhance the physical, cultural, and civic vitality of the Arts District and Little Tokyo. Our mission is to strengthen communication between the community and government while fostering pride, participation, and collaboration across our neighborhoods.

The Neighborhood Council system was established in 1999 under the authority of Article IX of the Los Angeles City Charter to ensure that City government remains responsive to the diverse needs and lifestyles of Los Angeles’ many communities. Today, there are 99 Neighborhood Councils across the City, each representing approximately 40,000 residents, workers, and stakeholders.

Neighborhood Councils are overseen by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners and receive administrative support and guidance from the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and the Office of the City Clerk.
